| Narrative Description of Project: The livelihood of rural people of Karnali region has threaten due to social exclusion, discrimination, low human development index, diverse and scatter livelihoods, weak economic status, geographic remoteness; food insecurity, limited provision of basic services such as education, health and infrastructure, environmental degradation, the loss of biodiversity, climate change and natural disasters. For this the project was designed for change the aforementioned themes. |
| Objectives of the Project: Adapting to climate change through improvement of environment conditions and restoration of natural resources in rural areas of Himalayan with the development of community structure for the integration and dissemination of expert knowledge and information regarding climate change and environment with focus on renewable energies. |
| Major Achievement: 39.5 KW electricity generated through improved water mill installation. Around 4528.68 tons per year carbon emission reduction through our RET installation, 102,209 (51,923 female and 50,286 males) people were benefitted from the project activities.From IWM 263 got employment and became a good source of income generation which minimized migration to India. Consumption of fire wood has decreased by 508.81 tons/ year from which overexploitation over natural resources in project area has been reduced.Youth were aware towards environmental issues, climate change and sustainable development and started plantation in their village. (15000 people were directly involved in educational rally and other program and 2,43,000 people were aware through local FM (As per FM catchment project)3089 Children got light for studying from Pico hydro and solar panel.Secure safe and increased access of drinking water for 497 households and 5 school’s 981 student.Diseases caused by contaminated drinking water are demonstrably reduced in project area (field observation of health post record)Increased access of light for1679 households from Pico hydro and solar panel.Reduces drudgery of women by 50 percent (from ICS, long shaft and short shaft).Utilization of human urine as bio fertilizer. |
