Sustainable Utilization of Resources in Himalayan Region (SURHR)

The SURHR project is launched in 50 VDC of Humla-10, Mugu-10 and Kalikot-30 of Karnali Region.  SURHR focused to adaptation to climate change, user friendly Structural Development Environment Protection and Development of water supply system in the project area through social mobilization. With pursing components a) Renewable Energy Technology: Bio-Gas plan, Pico-Hydro, improve watermills, capacity development and environment education. b) Infrastructure: Rainfall harvesting water tank, Drinking water storage tank, Eco-Toilets and Nursery establishment.  This project is supported by BMZ/TDH-Germany and has life from 2013 to 2016.

This project served to a total of 25725 people of project workplace through aforementioned activities. Similarly this project installed 30-bio-gas planted, 2 – Pico-hydro, 7 long shaft and 111 short shaft- IWM, 755 – ICS, 500 – Solar panel, 9 – drinking water supply system, 2 – water harvesting tanks, 54–eco-toilets, 75 –child and youth clubs, 28 – Nursery accommodated 91840 seedling and planted 4500.  As an impact, conserved natural resources and contribute to reduce Co2 by 2612.2 tons per year – source AEPC carbon unit Nepal, sustainable irrigation system, off seasonal pesticide free vegetable farming, released from smoke-full kitchen.
